OM for The Holidays

Just because the session ends on Dec 11 doesn’t mean its the last yoga class of 2010….
Join us Saturday, December 18th – 9am @ THE SPACE CAFE (directions) for a special class

OM for the Holidays

Join us for a special Pre-Holiday class in which we will set the intention of peace to all beings during this holiday season.  The experience will be led by Linda Moran and Jon Brandi (yes, this will officially be his last regular class in Lowell).
OM is the sound of the universe – it brings our energies together as we start class.   Send your OM out to those less fortunate this holiday season and also receive the gift of yoga for yourself.
After class there will be complimentary coffee & goodies courtesy of The Space – so stick around!  Special thanks to The Space for offering this as part of the fundraiser/going away for me  How very thoughtful.  🙂
Invite your friends! A great way to take a breather during the holiday hustle and bustle.

“Enlighten Up” Movie Screening @ Life Alive Mon, May 24th

Enlighten Up!:  A Skeptic’s Journey Into the World of Yoga” Movie Screening

Monday, May 24th, 2010, 7:30pm

Life Alive: Urban Oasis & Cafe

194 Middle Street, Lowell, MA

FREE ADMISSION~ (donations welcome!)

For some, the power of yoga has transformed and healed body, mind, and soul. But Nick Rosen is a bit skeptical — what IS it about yoga practice that draws millions into studios, gyms, and temples around the world? Follow Nick as he travels for 6 months across the globe at the request of his friend and filmmaker Kate Churchill, who herself believes that yoga can transform anyone. Beautifully filmed and brilliantly presented, Enlighten Up draws us in close — Nick is TRULY as real as it gets, spouting humorous insights and absorbing every incredible part of his quest and the people he meets: celebrity yogis, renowned gurus, and what we’d all consider to be ‘yoga freaks.’ If you have ANY experience or interest in yoga or its origins, don’t miss this film!

In addition to the film screening, Jon Brandi of BromYoga will lead the audience in gentle yoga and meditation exercises suitable for everyone — yoga mats and special clothing NOT required!

This special event is brought to you in partnership by the Lowell Film Collaborative, Life Alive Cafe, and BromYoga in Lowell. Founded by Kripalu-trained yoga instructor Jon Brandi, BromYoga offers weekly yoga classes at The Space at 122 Western Avenue.

Thanks to all of you and your support, we raised $1525 for the American Red Cross Haitian relief.

I feel so inspired and grateful that our community came together for such a great cause to help our neighbors in Haiti – it just goes to show you there is strength in numbers!

Speaking of strength in numbers, I personally want to thank the following people without whom this event would not have been as successful: Sharon Nista @ The Space for her hard work and her help coordinating the event overall.  Jon Bell, Robert Nista, and the staff at The Space.  All of the instructors and therapists, Marie Marchand, Lisa Tiernan, and Johanna Cassidy, who lent their time and helped spread the word.  All of the Musicians who entertained us Stanley Swan and others.  All of the Volunteers, Mary, Heather, Nicole and Diana – thank you for keeping things running smoothly.  All of the Businesses who graciously donated gift certificates and food: Mambo Grill, La Boniche, Brewd Awakening, Bella Luna, Abundant Life Massage, Ricardo’s, Scola’s

All of the Artists at Western Ave Studios who donated some of their work: Rebekah Wetmore, Maxine Farkas, Stacy Piwinski, Anne Ruthman and others.
